#Poem 108: Do you?

Do you remember the first time
We crossed each other’s way?
I know it’s been a long time
But listen, what I have to say
When you called me by my name
“Amulya, hey!”
My world turned into a movie
Romantic, full on cliché
Your eyes, your lips, that smile
You, my sunshine ray!
Seemed like a win of present
And a miss of yesterday
With time we got close
Promised a forever to stay
But I built a castle of sand
So the waves took it away
You weren’t my hero
And I wasn’t your princess, anyway
But, the heart still aches
And there’s nothing to allay
Do you remember the last time
We crossed each other’s way?
We smiled, and silently
Walked away.

  1. Thanks for your comment on a poem I wrote recently, based on a classical piece. Like you, I have not lately had the opportunity to write as frequently as I wish, but your kind support always gives me a boost. It can boost me back to the keyboard for just long enough to get something down. Maybe not always my best, but still in the game. Thanks Amulya.

  6. Beautiful lines. What I love most is where you say ‘You were not my hero and I was not your princess.” Take these lines:
Your hero is on his way,
    Greater than any
Who has ever crossed you way,
    You real not fake hero;
    Whose queen you will be,
    Today and forever.

  7. These could be lyrics for a catchy love song. It even has a repeating part, just like a chorus. Nicely done, Amulya.

I also felt the same. I’ll try to find some music for it. Hehe.

Lovely Amulya! The line, “So I built castles of sand but waves took….” is a great analogy. 😊😊
